Diyaluma Falls

The sight of the 220m-high Diyaluma Falls (Sri Lanka's second-highest), cascading down an escarpment of the Koslanda Plateau to a pool below, is simply fantastic. A steep track to the upper part of the falls departs from the road near the Km 207.5 marker. A twenty-minute hike gets you to the Sandamini Restaurant, beyond which the path climbs in earnest; allow at least 45 minutes each way. At the top (entry Rs 350), cool off in the crystal-clear natural infinity pools. It's located 13km west of Wellawaya, just off the A4 towards Haputale. Westbound buses from Wellawaya can drop you by the trailhead; tuk tuks to the trailhead cost around Rs 3000 round-trip.
