Colegio de Santo Domingo

A 16th-century monastery and university with two fine Renaissance cloisters and a refectory clad in 18th-century tile work, Santo Domingo was built on a monumental scale and still houses a school; a small museum room relates the history. The stern but noble lines of the building stretch towards one of the city gates. It's quite a contrast moving from the sober cloister into the baroque riot of the church, full of color and bristling with cherubs.
