There are some fine examples of colonial architecture in Centre Ville, ranging from the elegant to the exuberant to the bizarre. This custard-coloured 1883 Catholic cathedral sits comfortably in the bizarre camp, melding Gothic, Byzantine and Moorish elements in a messy and gaudy attempt at architectural distinction.
