Little remains of Montilla's castle, which fell into ruin after its towers were demolished in 1508. You can see a few ruins scattered around the panoramic hilltop site but most of the area is now occupied by an 18th-century granary known as the Alhorí.
Inside, work is ongoing on a museum dedicated to the Reconquista general Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, "El Gran Capitán," who was born in the castle in 1453. The museum opening is planned for mid-2020.
