The 360-degree views from the Castillo de Miramontes are truly stupendous, extending over vast swathes of Andalucía and Castilla-La Mancha. The castle, situated on a crag above Santa Eufemia, Andalucía's northernmost village, dates to the Arab period but it was destroyed in 1478, probably on the orders of the Catholic Monarchs, and is now in ruins.
To get to the castle, turn west off the N502 at Bar La Paloma in Santa Eufemia, and after 1km turn right at the "Camino Servicio RTVE" sign, from which it’s a 1.5km drive uphill to the castle.
