In the suburb of Goonellabah, 6km east of the town centre, the Birdwing Butterfly Walk has been planted with vines to attract the rare insect. You might also spot platypuses in the Tucki Tucki Creek, especially at dawn or sunset. To get here, take the Bruxner Hwy and turn right on Kadina St.
