On a hilltop on the grounds of the Rio Tinto Boron Mine, California's largest open pit mine, this museum reeks 'corporate promo' but actually has some fine exhibits and a film explaining the history and process of borax mining, processing, distribution and its many uses. Views of the mine, which produces nearly half of the world's borates, are stupendous.
