Housed in an artfully converted old school, this center contains a cafe, a tourist office, a gallery, a gift shop and, more importantly, excellent interactive audiovisual displays that explore the industrial heritage of the region. If you're going to explore any of the World Heritage Site, this is the place to start to contextualise it all.
