NEW ORLEANS,LA/USA -03-24-2019:The entrance to Audubon Zoo in New Orleans Audubon Park, a popular public city park

Appropriately enough, the Audubon Zoo is inside Audubon Park. It's a large place, and sections include African, Asian and South American landscapes and fauna. Kids will find some of the world's most popular animals here, from elephants to giraffes. During the summer months, part of the zoo becomes a dedicated water park for kids.

Louisiana Swamp

If you’re not heading west into Cajun country or going on a swamp tour, this is about the next best thing: a wet wonderland of bald cypresses and Spanish moss, carefully landscaped to reflect the natural wonders of southern Louisiana bayou country. Bobcats, lynx, alligators, bears and otters are on view here, and you may see a red fox chilling on a log in the swamp scrub.

Jaguar Jungle

Yes, there are jaguars, as well as a faux–Mayan temple playground, a dark enclosure for bats and other nocturnal creatures, and walkways decorated with Mesoamerican lintels and sculptures that wind past parrots, monkeys and snakes.

African Savanna

Highlights include a lion enclosure constructed to resemble an East African field research station, a grassy area where African wild dogs chase each others’ tails, and Monkey Hill, a grassy slope that generations of New Orleans kids have log rolled and somersaulted down with wild abandon.

Wings of the World

Kids and parents alike love this indoor aviary, where feathered species from across the world casually stroll and warble next to visitors.
