A memorial tombstone honors Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg and some of his fellow conspirators who were executed after the failed July 1944 assassination plot against Hitler. Their bodies were initially buried on the site, but members of the SS had them exhumed and cremated and their ashes scattered in an unknown location.
