Alaska State Capitol

One of the US' more prosaic state capitols, this boxy building went up between 1929 and 1931 and looks more like an overgrown high school than a historic bastion of democracy. Stuffed inside are legislative chambers, the governor’s office, and offices for the hundreds of staff members who arrive in Juneau for the winter legislative session.

A self-guided tour pamphlet of the lobby is available.
