Aarhus' gray-marble-clad city hall, the Aarhus Rådhus, codesigned by pioneer of Danish modernism Arne Jacobsen, was completed in 1942; it almost didn't have a clock tower until Aarhus' citizens looked at the plans and found them lacking.
You can pop inside to admire the clean lines, parquet floors and vintage elevators, or sign up for one of the weekly guided tours on Saturdays at 11.30am with Aarhus Guiderne (aarhusguiderne.dk; adult/child 125/50kr).
