One of Falmouth's most distinctive buildings, Phoenix Foundry was built in 1810 and sports a strange-looking conical roof. Behind the foundry, guarded by locked gates, is the Central Wharf where slaves were brought ashore, to be replaced in the holds by sugar, rum and other victuals borne of their back-breaking labor.
