Welcome to Around Kaza
The small, high-altitude villages on the east side of the Spiti valley (all well above 4000m) have a pristine, desolate beauty all their own, with minimal vegetation except their carefully tended fields of barley and other crops. This is the abode of the Himalayan wolf, snow leopard, blue sheep, golden eagle and griffon vulture. Several of the villages have seasonal guesthouses or homestays and interesting old temples or monasteries. Most travellers visit them as multi-stop day trips from Kaza but, to get a better sense of the lifestyle of Spiti's amazingly resilient people, you can stay over and trek between several of the villages along the homestay trek route linking Langza, Komic and Demul with Lhalung and Dhankar.
