Basilika St Ludgerus

The Ruhrgebiet

Werden’s main sight is the solid stone St Ludgerus (1175), a beautiful late-Romanesque church named for the Frisian missionary buried here. It has an impressive exterior as well as a commendable treasury housed in the old abbey. Standouts include the bronze crucifix forged locally around AD 1060.
