Old First Church

Southern Vermont

Gracing the center of Old Bennington, this historic church was built in 1805 in Palladian style. Its churchyard holds the remains of five Vermont governors, numerous American Revolution soldiers and poet Robert Frost (1874–1963) – the best-known, and perhaps best-loved, American poet of the 20th century – buried beneath the inscription 'I Had a Lover's Quarrel with the World.'
