Shreveport Water Works Museum

Louisiana

You might think the Water Works Museum is for a certain kind of enthusiast – someone very into civil engineering and infrastructure. In fact, this lovingly maintained physical plant, built in 1887, should fascinate anyone with historical curiosity. The museum occupies the McNeill Street Pumping Station, which retains much of its original machinery, and represents an exceedingly rare example of an intact steam water works despite its century and change age.
