Limahuli Garden

Gardens in Haʻena

As beautiful as it gets for living education, this garden offers a pleasant overview of endemic botany and ancient Hawaiʻi's ahupuaʻa (land division) system of management. Self-guided tours take about 1½ hours, allowing you to meditate on the scenery along a 0.75-mile loop trail; in-depth guided tours (minimum age 10 years, reservations required) last 2½ hours.

Volunteer service projects in native ecosystem restoration give ecotourists a glimpse into the entire 985-acre preserve. To get here, turn inland just before the stream that marks the boundary of Haʻena State Park.
