Explore The Garden Route from Port Elizabeth

Your tour begins around Mid-day at George Airport. There are several options getting to the Garden Route. You can fly from Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban or we can arrange a door to door private road transfer from Cape Town or Port Elizabeth. There is a luxury coach service.  Contact us for assistance with your transport requirements. DAY 1 (Dinner) From George Airport we journey to Knysna via the Wilderness.  Visit the Knysna Heads where the mighty Indian Ocean rushes in and out of the Knysna Lagoon. Wind up the day with an optional Lagoon Cruise. There are a number of options including luxury yachts & Ferries.  This evening guests are invited to the Knysna Yacht Club for a barbeque (Braai). Accommodation is in a 3 or4 star Guest house or an apartment at the Knysna Waterfront.  DAY 2  (Breakfast) Today we explore  the Tsitsikamma region.   We also go whale spotting in the winter months.   The coastal road we follow wends it's way along steep river gorges and through dense indigenous forests and ferns.Visit the tiny settlement of Nature's Valley, one of the loveliest havens of tranquillity along the Garden Route. Our exploration of this ancient forest  leads through ferns and creepers and the  undisputed monarch of the forest -  gigantic Outeniqua Yellowwoods. Enjoy your lunch on the beach at Plettenberg Bay. Enjoy a tour of  Monkeyland or the Birds of Eden before departing back to Knysna. Free evening to explore the Waterfront.. DAY 3  (Breakfast) Today we travel over the Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn - undisputed "ostrich capital" of the world. Our itinerary includes a visit to a fascinating Ostrich Show Farm where, amidst enormous flocks of these strange birds, we are shown their development from the  egg to the 100 kg adult. You will  then visit one of the great wonders of Africa - the subterranean wonderland of the Cango Caves for a tour of this vast sequence of caverns, each filled with astonishing formations of glittering stalagmites and stalactites  End the day with an optional wine/juice tasting, sampling some of the finest wines from the region. Overnight in Oudtshoorn in a 3/4 star Guest House. DAY 4 (Breakfast) After breakfast we head down to Mossel Bay. Enjoy a boat ride out to Seal Island to view seals, whales and sometimes the Great White Shark. We also explore the Diaz Museum. After an opportunity to do some last minute shopping and enjoy lunch at the seaside, we drop you off in the early afternoon at George Airport for your onward flight or coach or private road transport.

DAY 1  (L)     From Cape Town you will  travel through the wine producing valleys of the Cape Winelands. Each valley is graced with great scenic beauty. Lunch & wine tasting is at an award winning Wine Estate in Calitzdorp.  We arrive in Oudtshoorn - Ostrich capital of the world. Our first  visit is to the Cango Wildlife Ranch to view cheetahs, lions, tigers & crocodiles and more.                            Optional Adventure Today:  Cage Diving with Crocodiles   DAY 2  (B L)   Begin the day with a Cango Caves Adventure Tour. Visit one of the great wonders of Africa - the subterranean wonderland of Cango Caves for a tour of this vast sequence of caverns. Visit a Ostrich Show Farm where flocks of these strange birds are kept.  After lunch we head over the Outeniqua Pass to Knysna. En Route we stop at the Wilderness for an optional Craft Beer or Gin tasting.  Overnight in Knysna.  Optional Adventure Today:  Knysna Lagoon Rib Experience DAY 3  (B D)    Visit Plettenberg Bay and try to spot the local dolphins at play. Visit  Natures Valley and take a walk along one of the most pristine beaches in South Africa. 5-day - Perfect Picturesque Garden Route Tour

Day 1: After pickup between 7 and 8 am from your Cape Town or Stellenbosch hotel (see recommended list), you’ll travel in a comfortable vehicle to our first stop at Spier Wine Estate where we will have a taste of two premium wine ranges, plus Spier’s flagship wine, Frans K Smit. Completing this appetizer we drive for approximately five hours to the town of Mossel Bay. Now off to the neighboring town of George, where we will overnight at the Acorn Guest House George (or similar).Day 2: After breakfast you will be taken to the Kaaimans River Gorge Reserve, located between the towns of George and Wilderness. The Kaaimans Waterfall is accessible by rowing boat or canoe. A drive through Knysna take you to the town of Plettenberg Bay, where you can either take a boat ride for a “Dolphin Encounters” excursion of 1,5 to 2 hours at Ocean Blue Adventures, or do tours at the Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary, Birds of Eden and Monkeyland. We via Jeffrey’s Bay on our return in the afternoon to try surfing in one of the world's most famous surf spots, or just relax on the beach.  Overnight is the same as day 2 in the town of Cape St Francis at Club Break. Day 4: After breakfast, you’ll travel approximately four hours on the famous Route 62 to get to Oudtshoorn for a Heritage Tour at the Cango Caves. Located in a limestone ridge parallel to the picturesque Swartberg Mountains, the caves include over 2.5 miles (4 km) of drip stone caverns with vast halls and towering formations of stalactites and stalagmites. You’ll walk through some of this subterranean wonderland with your guide on a 2-hour tour of the caves.You can take part in a Wild meerkat tour which offer you the unique opportunity to see these animals that are part of the shy 5 in their natural environment.  Meerkats are part of the so-called Shy 5 which also includes the bat-eared fox, the aardvark, porcupine and aardwolf. Alternatively you can take a game drive, or go on a Khoi San Cultural Trail. More than one activity for your cost. We spend the night at De Zeekoe outside Oudtshoorn. Day 5: After you chose to do more of the activities (optional) on this farm after breakfast, we return to Cape Town along Route 62, the world's longest wine route. You’ll pass through breath-taking scenery and have plenty of rest stops. Also to be visited is Ronnie's Sex Shop which had visitors from all over the world, judging by the graffiti on its wall. Over the years it has become a popular stop for bikers, local farmers and people travelling Route 62 regularly. There will be more stops for wine tasting before reaching Cape Town to end your tour.
