Run by the Faculty of Sciences of Porto University, this jigsaw of botanical gardens is a cool escape on hot summer days. Dotted with lakes and flourishing with succulents, roses and camellias, these secluded gardens are the brainchild of port-wine merchant João Henrique Andresen, who had them laid out in romantic style in 1895.
