In the village of Nanthe, this Buddhist temple complex features a 26ft-high sitting buddha surrounded by stucco deva (celestial beings) and chinthe (half-lion, half-dragon deities). Although heavily restored, the statue is said to be more than 700 years old. Nanthe is just south of Nyaungshwe.
