Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian

Mary Cabot established this museum (wheelwright.org; adult/child under 12 $10/free) in 1937 to showcase Navajo ceremonial art, and its major strength is Navajo and Zuni jewelry, in particular silverwork. The first gallery hosts temporary exhibits, showcasing Native American art from across North America. The gift store, known as the Case Trading Post, sells museum-quality rugs, jewelry, kachinas and crafts. Look out for ad-hoc workshops, such as those which help you create a painted bullroarer, a musical instrument used to communicate over vast distances.
