The stately, steam-powered TSS Earnslaw was built in the same year as the Titanic (1912) but has fared somewhat better. The ship was once the lake’s major means of transport, though now its ever-present cloud of black soot (it burns a tonne of coal an hour) seems a little incongruous in such a pristine setting.
