Fill up on petrol in Smithton or Stanley, as there's no petrol available along this fully sealed drive. From 1 Marrawah, it's 15km to 2 Bluff Hill Point Lighthouse, an excellent vantage point for a first taste of the coast's wild energy. Continue south for 10km to 3 Gardiner Point, a natural frontier so wild it’s earned the title of Edge of the World. Further south, by the shack village of Nelson Bay, 4 Sundown Point State Reserve features a 2km walk to ancient petroglyphs. Approaching the fishing-shack community of 5 Couta Rocks, the drive turns inland to pass the northern entry to the 6 Western Explorer Road.
