The 20-minute drive here from downtown Daytona Beach is almost as pleasant as the park itself, a bird-watchers' heaven of former-indigo-fields-turned-hardwood-forests. A canopy of trees overhangs the two-lane road like a green tunnel, letting in only the stray dapple of sunlight. It's a beautiful place with echoes of the Deep South.
