A dilapidated building on the outside, Tambekar Wada has a treasure trove of frescoes decorating its interior – the building's main surviving feature of note. Here you can admire the Maratha-style wada (mansion) architecture, with its wooden balconies and a central courtyard. The front portion of the house is adorned with tempera paintings, dating from the mid- to late 19th century, that cover the walls and ceilings, depicting stories from Hindu mythology and even some European figures and settings.
The building was once the residence of Bhau Tambekar, diwan of Baroda (1849–54).
