St Pancras' immense 40m tower has seen it dubbed the Cathedral of the Moor. In 1638 a violent storm knocked a pinnacle from the roof, killing several parishioners. As ever on Dartmoor, the Devil was blamed, said to be in search of souls.
Entry to the church was suspended in 2020; if it's reopened track down the panels inside, which outline the fire-and-brimstone tale of the storm.
