Down a set of narrow downtown side streets stands one of the city’s last surviving 18th-century residences. This simple but delightful villa was once home to a lover of Emperor Dom Pedro I; it now houses the restrained Museu da Cidade de São Paulo, a multi-location museum devoted to the city's history.
