Intricately carved wooden pillars and doors displaying a fascinating combination of motifs are the star attraction at this moving memorial, completed in 1992. It was built to commemorate the victims of a tragic flood in 1979.
The Santuario is a picturesque but unshaded 3km uphill hike from Chochís. Bring water and sun protection and follow the road toward the big red rock.
