From mid-October to April, Rockefeller Plaza is home to New York's most famous (if not its roomiest) ice-skating rink. Carved out of a recessed oval with art deco skyscrapers towering above, plus a massive Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting during the holiday season, it's incomparably magical. It's also undeniably crowded. Opt for the first skating session of the day (8:30am) to avoid a long wait. In summer 2022, the space became a roller disco, a transformation that will hopefully stick.
Sessions last 90 minutes. Come summer, the rink becomes a cafe.
