Plas-yn-Rhiw

The three Keating sisters, Eileen, Lorna and Honora, friends of the poet RS Thomas, came to the rescue of this decaying Regency manor house in 1938, with the assistance of Portmeirion architect Clough Williams-Ellis. The lush gardens provide a sharp contrast to the surrounding moorland and views over Porth Neigwl to Cardigan Bay. The house retains many original furnishings, plus Honora Keating's landscape watercolours. It's near the hamlet of Rhiw, 5km east of Aberdaron; follow the signposts from the B4413.
