Pak Tai Temple

Tucked away on a quiet residential street near the Blue House, Pak Tai Temple is is a pocket of spiritual peace amid the high-rises and banyan trees. Built in 1863 to honor Pak Tai, a god of the sea, the temple is adorned with ceramic roof-ridge ornaments that depict scenes from Cantonese opera, with twin stone-dragon sculptures guarding the entrance. The main hall reveals a 3m-tall copper statue of Pak Tai, cast 400 years ago during the Ming dynasty. Statues of other deities from Chinese legends are scattered throughout the classic Qing dynasty "two-hall-three-bay" layout of the temple.
