Orwell Corner Historic Village

Go back to a different era at Orwell Corner Historic Village (orwellcornervillage.ca; adult/child $13.80/9.20), a living history site located 28km east of Charlottetown that takes you to rural PEI in the 1800s and early 1900s. Start in the agricultural museum that details the lives of settler-farmers, with quotes about how they picked berries, grew potatoes and oats, or sold milk and cheese from their own cows. In the village itself, staffed by interpreters in period costumes, you can wander through the school, general store, blacksmith shop and other buildings; in summer, a tea shop in the community hall serves pastries, coffee, tea and lemonade. The village also raises horses, goats, chickens and other animals using traditional 1895 farming methods.
