England's premier Puritan lived in this attractive, half-timbered house with his family from 1636 to 1647, when he was the local tithe collector, before embarking on his momentous campaign to separate the king from his throne (and head) and institute a parliamentary republic. Inside are thought-provoking audiovisual displays on Cromwell's life and times (pick up a handset as you enter).
