Falmouth's big museum is the sister outpost of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London. Imaginative displays focus on Falmouth's history as a port, and on the broader impact of the sea on history and culture. The centrepiece is the five-storey Flotilla Gallery, where an array of small vessels, ranging from rowboats to rescue craft, are suspended from the ceiling.
From the top floor of the Lookout tower, there's a 360-degree panorama across Falmouth Bay. Regular nautically themed exhibitions cover subjects ranging from the Titanic and Captain Bligh to the tradition of tattooing. Check to see whether the hour-long heritage boat tours have resumed. Admission tickets are valid for one year.
