This beautiful teahouse from 1704 (rebuilt in 1983) stands elegantly on an island in the central pond at Hama-rikyū Onshi-teien, reached via a long cedar bridge. It’s an ideal spot for a cup of matcha (powdered green tea) and a sweet while contemplating the very faraway 21st century beyond the garden walls.
