Almuñécar's small archaeology museum is set in a series of 1st-century vaulted underground stone cellars, known as the Cueva de Siete Palacios and built at a time when the town was ruled by the Romans and known as Sexi (yes, really). On display are finds from local Phoenician, Roman and Islamic sites plus a 17th-century-BCE Egyptian amphora.
