Lake Sunapee is a worthwhile detour any time of year, but especially in summer when you can enjoy the wide sandy beach and pleasant grassy lawns of Mount Sunapee State Park for hiking, picnicking, swimming and fishing. Canoes and kayaks are available for rental. From I-89 take exit 9, NH 103 to Newbury.
