Nearby is a small monument dedicated to the Bible, and if you happen to see a crowd, they're perhaps listening to a self-appointed apostle, using the spot as a pulpit. When you get tired of looking at buildings, cross the street and enjoy a stroll along the shores of the Lago Sur, a cove with a pretty shoreline, reeds, trees and waterfowl. You can also duck into the Museo Etnográfico y Colonial 'Juan de Garay' (santafecultura.gob.ar; free), which has a scale model of the original Santa Fe settlement; it's open only evenings on weekends but much of the day on weekdays. And at the South Park Amphitheater, you can often catch shows and events – ask at your hotel if anything's likely to be happening.
