Keeping a low profile on Chrissy Field is mysterious Building 640, a WWII spy-craft school turned museum. Inside this drafty bunkhouse, Japanese American soldiers were trained for high-risk intelligence missions on WWII battlegrounds. Meanwhile, their families were incarcerated as supposed "enemy aliens" in accordance with US Executive Order 9066. The Japanese American 442nd regiment became the most decorated unit in US history, and SF-based Japanese American Citizens League won major civil rights victories – triumphs captured here in riveting displays.
