In 1892, entrepreneurial Ohioan Bill Menor took advantage of this narrow channel in the Snake River and established a homestead, ferry and general store. The buildings are open for exploration, and visitors can ride across on a replica of Menor's ferry, which uses an ingenious system of static lines and boat angles to drift across the river.
