Malaekahana State Recreation Area

The long, relatively uncrowded beach with buff-colored sand is popular with families. Swimming is generally good here year-round, although there are occasionally strong currents in winter. Bodyboarding, surfing and windsurfing are also possible. Weekday visitors may find it hard to believe that the enormous parking lot fills up on weekends, but it often does.
