This electrifying installation was created by artist Walter de Maria in 1977. Four hundred 6m-tall steel poles stand in a 1km-by-1km grid; during summer thunderstorms, well, you can imagine what happens. The location is a secret and visitors must overnight in the on-site cabin; only six people are allowed per night. Reserve.
