Gorgeous, turreted, Tudor-era Kentwell Hall may date from the 1500s, but it's still used as a private home, lending it a wonderfully lived-in feel. The mansion is framed by a rectangular moat, lush gardens and a rare-breeds farm, and during Tudor re-enactment events, the whole estate bristles with bodices, codpieces and hose. Opening hours are erratic: in 2020, the gardens (only) were open from noon to 4pm Wednesday to Sunday – call for the latest information.
