Île du Diable

Covered with a thick foliage of palms, rocky Île du Diable (Devil's Island) was where the most high-profile prisoners were kept, including Alfred Dreyfus. Sadly most day-trip boats don't stop here, but it's a rewarding place to wander around if you get the chance, and several of its historic buildings have been restored.
