The oldest church in Goiás, the 1728 Igreja NS do Rosário Matriz was tragically gutted by fire in 2002. Inside, the Museu da Matriz explains the history and ongoing renovation. The new altar was restored and brought in from the former slave church, a necessary house of worship since slaves were banned from this one.
