Hoover Tower

A campus landmark at the east of the Main Quad, the 285ft-high Hoover Tower is part of the conservative Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace, a Stanford-affiliated public policy research center. An observation platform on the 14th floor offers superb views, and the building also houses a university library, offices and a couple of free exhibition rooms, one of which contains a 900lb piece of the Berlin Wall.

The tower was struck by lightning in August 2020; at the time of writing, the full extent of the damage was still unknown.
