Straddling Khovd and Govi-Altai aimags, this strictly protected area in the Gobi Desert was created to protect khulan (wild ass), gazelle, jerboas and takhi (Mongolian wild horses). The Przewalski horse, at one time extinct in the wild, has been reintroduced to the reserve.
