Government House

Built between 1837 and 1841, the grand Gothic pile that serves as the official residence of the Governor of NSW sits within park-like grounds adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden. Free guided tours of Government House head through the public sections of the palace, including the dining room, drawing room and ballroom, all of which are hung with grandiose royal and viceregal portraits. Tours leave on the half-hour from 10.30am to 3pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; bring ID and register at the gatehouse.
