Goldwell Open Air Museum

En route to the ghost town of Rhyolite, some 5.5 miles south of Beatty, a prospector accompanied by a penguin, a ghostly plastercast version of Da Vinci's Last Supper and other surreal sculptures rise up from the dusty desert floor. The bizarre "museum" was begun in 1984 by the late Belgian artist Albert Szukalski and added to over the years by fellow creatives.
